Early life
Terry Sanchez Wallace Jr, professionally known as Tee Grizzley was born on 23rd March, 1994 in Detroit, Michigan.
His parents were in and out of prison so often that they decided to leave their son with his grandmother. His mother’s name was Latoya Perry and the late Terry Sanchez Wallace Sr plus a younger brother named Mar Mar Wallace.
Tee’s childhood was mostly spent in the Joy Rd & Southfield neighborhood. He went to middle school where he developed his new found love for rap music.
At this time, he founded ‘All stars ball’. He spent some time in high school at Michigan State University but dropped out due to financial difficulties.
Before dropping out, Tee Grizzley allegedly stole $20,000 worth of electronics and money from other students’ dormitories with Jeremy Ford.
They were arrested and freed as officers continued to carry out investigations. After his release, the rapper fled to Kentucky where he was again arrested for an attempted robbery in Lexington in 2014.
He was convicted for both robberies and served a combined total of 27 months in prison. Most people attribute his bad childhood to lack of a father figure.
His parents were never around much as his mother was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drug trafficking while his father was murdered in 2012.
Personal life
The most important thing to note is that the rapper has a child. The boy named Terry Wallace III was born in February 2021.
The boy’s mother is My’Eisha Agnew who is currently engaged to the rapper. The couple started dating in 2019 and got engaged on 31 January 2022.
Delving deeper, the rapper is an avid gamer with over 50,000 fans on Twitch. Most of his game streams are centered on Grand Theft Auto V.
Music Career
Tee Grizzley focused on rap seriously when he was in jail for robbery. He started writing rap music and go his moniker from jail.
When he got out of jail, he released his first song ‘First day out’ in November 2016 on YouTube. After accumulating over 2 million views in just 2 weeks, the rapper was signed to 300 Entertainment & Atlantic Records.
This was followed by the release of ‘Second day out’ in February 2017, ‘From the D to the A’ featuring Lil Yachty in March 2017 and ‘No effort’ on 31 March 2017.
Tee released his debut mixtape ‘My moment’ in April whose sales almost tripled when one of the songs was featured in an Instagram post by Lebron James.
This was followed by other singles with Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo and Lil Yachty. He also made a joint mixtape titled ‘Bloodas’ on December 8, 2017. In May 2018, Tee released his debut studio album, ‘Activated’ followed by a mixtape titled ‘Still my money’ in November 2018. However, the rapper was shot at in August 2018 and ended up losing his aunt/ manager in the shooting.
To commemorate his aunt’s death, he released ‘Satish’ accompanied with a music video.
In 2020, he continued to work on several songs including Red Light, Payroll featuring Payroll Giovanni, No Talkin, I spy, Mr. Officer and a mixtape titled ‘The Smartest’.
He started work on his third studio album ‘Built for whatever’ which was released in May 2021. The album featured fellow rappers like the late King Von, Quavo, YNW Melly and most notably Big Sean.
In the following year, he released a mixtape titled ‘Half Tee Half Breast’.
Fans are awaiting his next project after announcing that it’d be released soon.
